SquatKey
Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 15, 2026
1. Developer Information
SquatKey is developed by Nil Basora (Spain). If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or your data, contact [email protected].
2. The Short Version
- SquatKey has no camera access and never films you.
- Squat detection runs entirely on your device; motion data is never recorded or uploaded.
- We cannot see which apps you block or use — Apple's Screen Time system keeps that private by design.
- No account is required. Your settings and workout history stay on your device.
- We collect anonymous usage analytics and subscription status to run and improve the app.
3. Data Stored on Your Device
SquatKey stores your data locally on your device. This includes your settings, strictness level, daily allowances, squat session history, streaks, achievements, statistics, and onboarding answers (such as your goals and self-reported screen-time habits).
This data is tied to your device and is deleted when you delete the app. SquatKey does not require a user account.
4. Motion & Fitness Data
SquatKey counts squats using your device's motion sensors (accelerometer). Sensor readings are processed on your device, in real time, solely to detect squat repetitions. Raw motion data is never stored, never leaves your device, and is discarded immediately after processing. Only the resulting rep counts and session summaries are saved, locally.
SquatKey does not request or use camera access.
5. Screen Time and App Blocking
SquatKey blocks apps and websites using Apple's Screen Time (Family Controls) framework. This system is designed by Apple so that your selections are opaque to the developer: we receive anonymous tokens, not app names. We cannot see which apps or websites you choose to block, nor how you use your device. All blocking rules are enforced by the operating system on your device.
6. Analytics (PostHog)
We use PostHog (hosted in the European Union) to collect anonymous usage analytics: which screens are viewed, onboarding progress, feature usage, squat session counts, device model, operating system version, app version, and language. This helps us understand what works and improve the app.
- Analytics are keyed to a random identifier, not your name or email.
- We do not collect your contacts, location, photos, browsing history, or advertising identifiers.
- We do not sell your data or use it for third-party advertising.
7. Purchases (RevenueCat & Apple)
Subscriptions are processed by Apple through your App Store account — we never see your payment details. We use RevenueCat to validate and manage subscription status. RevenueCat receives a random app user identifier and your purchase history for this app (product, trial status, renewal state), which is required to unlock the features you paid for.
8. Notifications
If you enable notifications, reminders are scheduled locally on your device (for example, a reminder before your free trial ends or a streak reminder). We do not send remote marketing push notifications.
9. Data Retention and Your Rights (GDPR)
Local data lives on your device and is removed when you delete the app. Analytics data is retained only as long as needed for product improvement.
If you are in the European Economic Area, you have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and to object to or restrict its processing. To exercise these rights, contact [email protected]. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
10. Children
SquatKey is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date.
